TO PROMOTE THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION, PROTECTION, AND USE OF THE CITY OF SANDUSKY, OHIO'S TRADITIONAL DOWNTOWN AREA. IN ADDITION, ITS FOCUS IS ON THE ELIMINATION OF PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC DETIORATION OF THE DOWNTOWN AREA AND THE PROMOTION OF THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE OF DOWNTOWN SANDUSKY. THE ASSOCIATION SEEKS TO IMPROVE AND RESTORE THE VITALITY OF DOWNTOWN SANDUSKY BY UNDERTAKING ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO PRESERVE ITS TRADITIONAL DOWNTOWN AREA AS A HEALTHY, ECONOMICALLY VITAL CENTER OF COMMERCE AND SOCIAL ACTIVITY. IT ALSO PROMOTES PRESERVATION, REHABILIATION, AND REUSE OF THE COMMERCIAL, CIVIC, AND RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS ON THE BUSINESS DISTRICT.

THE PROGRAM SERVICE REVENUE REPORTED IN PART I, LINE 2 INCLUDES INCOME FROM ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THE FARMERS' MARKET, OHIO BIKE WEEK, PARTY AT THE PLAZA, AND CRUISIN BY THE BAY. THESE ACTIVITIES FORM THE BASIS OF THE ASSOCIATION'S EXEMPT PURPOSE AS THEY ALL PROMOTE THE USE OF SANDUSKY'S DOWNTOWN AREA. THEREFORE, THE INCOME IS EXCLUDED AS UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME. THE SPECIAL EVENT REVENUE REPORTED IN PART I, LINE 6A IS EXCLUDED FROM UNRELATED BUSINESS ACTIVITY BECAUSE SUBSTANTIALLY ALL THE WORK IS PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEERS SEC 513(A)(3).
