FIRST ACHIEVEMENT
FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 28
DURING 2010, MANY EVENTS WERE HELD INVOLVING THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE ART AND SCIENCE OF CLAY. 60 CHILDREN AGED 6 - 12 PARTICIPATED IN THE "ALICE IN WONDERLAND CLAY CAMP" DURING THE SUMMER. 45 TEENAGERS THREW POTS ON THE WHEEL DURING CLASSES YEAR-ROUND. WE AVERAGED 18 STUDIO POTTERS YEAR-ROUND AND THREE PART-TIME MEMBERS ON A MONTHLY BASIS. EMPTY BOWLS: WE INVITED THE COMMUNITY IN TO MAKE SOUP BOWLS FOR A FUNDRAISER THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE HUNGRY IN BLAINE COUNTY, IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE BLAINE COUNTY HUNGER COALITION. OUR ORGANIZATION DONATED THE CLAY, GLAZES, SPACE AND FIRING CAPABILITIES TO ASPIRING POTTERS YOUNG AND OLD SO THEY COULD COME INTO THE STUDIO AND MAKE BOWLS FOR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE. WE COMMITTED TO MAKING 200 BOWLS. IN JANUARY, OUR ORGANIZATION ALONG WITH THE HUNGER COALITION AND THE BIG WOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HELD A SOUP LUNCH WHERE EVERYONE CAME AND PAID 20 FOR THE BOWL AND RECEIVED AN ENTIRELY DONATED LUNCH. PROCEEDS WERE DONATED TO THE HUNGER COALITION AND MORE THAN 200 PEOPLE ATTENDED. CAMP RAINBOW GOLD: WE PROVIDED THE CLAY ART PROGRAM INCLUDING MATERIALS AND INSTRUCTORS FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER AND THEIR SIBLINGS DURING THREE WEEKS IN JULY. ABOUT 80 CAMPERS PARTICIPATED. CHILDREN'S ART FESTIVAL: THE WOOD RIVER ART ALLIANCE IN ASSOCIATION WITH OUR ORGANIZATION SPONSORED THIS FESTIVAL IN MARCH. THE CHILDREN OF THE VALLEY ARE INVITED TO THE COMMUNITY CENTER TO PARTAKE AND SAMPLE, FREE OF CHARGE, THE ARTS PROGRAMS THAT ARE PROVIDED BY THE COMMUNITY. OUR ORGANIZATION HOSTED 4 CLASSES IN ICE CREAM BOWL MAKING TO 60 CHILDREN ON ONE SATURDAY. GREEK AMPHORA: THE PIONEER MONTESSORI SCHOOL IN KETCHUM EMPLOYED US TO TEACH THEIR 4TH, 5TH AND 6TH GRADERS ABOUT CLAY, GREEK VESSELS AND THE CREATIVE SPIRIT. WE TAUGHT THE CLASS TO 20 KIDS AND IT WAS COMPLIMENTARY TO THEIR LEARNING ABOUT THE GREEK CULTURE. THE CHARGE WAS MINIMAL AND THE WORKS WERE IMPRESSIVE.
