THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS: "TO PROVIDE A FORUM FOR MUTUAL SUPPORT AND TRAINING FOR LOCAL UNITED WAYS" ALONG WITH GOVERNANCE AND OPERATION OF VERMONT 2-1-1, A COMPREHENSIVE, STREAMLINED AND CONFIDENTIAL HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SYSTEM SERVING ALL RESIDENTS OF VERMONT 24 HOURS A DAY. ALSO, COORDINATES FUNDRAISING, TRAINING AND EDUCATION, PLANNING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES OF ALL PARTICIPATING UNITED WAYS IN VT.

WE ADVANCE THE COMMON GOOD BY FOCUSING ON IMPROVING EDUCATION, HELPING PEOPLE ACHIEVE FINANCIAL STABILITY, AND PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVES, AND BY MOBILIZING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TO GIVE, ADVOCATE, AND VOLUNTEER TO IMPROVE THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH THEY LIVE. IN 2005, UWSVT LAUNCHED A COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM FOR STREAMLINED, CONFIDENTIAL, COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY INFORMATION AND REFERRAL CALLED VERMONT 2-1-1. THE USE OF THE EASY TO REMEMBER, THREE DIGIT DIALING CODE CONNECTS CALLERS TO HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF VERMONT. BY THE END OF FISCAL 2011, VERMONT 2-1-1'S ROBUST DATABASE CONSISTED OF OVER 8,400 SERVICES AND OVER 3,000 PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY OVER 880 COMMUNITY, FAITH AND GOVERNMENT BASED AGENCIES. CALL VOLUME CONTINUES TO INCREASE ANNUALLY. THE PROGRAM CAN BE ACCESSED 24/7 VIA TELEPHONE AND THE DATABASE IS ACCESSIBLE ON-LINE AT WWW.VERMONT211.ORG. VERMONT 2-1-1 PROVIDES VOLUNTEER CALL TAKER TRAINING SESSIONS TO HELP CREATE A POOL OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS THAT ARE VITAL DURING OUR HIGH ALERT DISASTER PERIODS (I.E. SNOW STORMS, ICE STORMS, EXTREME HOT/COLD WEATHER, FLOODING, ETC.) WE HAVE OVER 40 TRAINED VOLUNTEERS, 10 OF WHICH WERE TRAINED IN THIS FY. WE EXERCISE AND DRILL WITH VERMONT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ON A QUARTERLY BASIS TO KEEP THE VOLUNTEERS ENGAGED AND UPDATED ON DISASTER RESOURCES. OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITHIN THE STATE OF VERMONT RUN DEEP. WE PARTNER WITH LOCAL, STATE AND FAITH BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN AREAS OF INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND DATA DISTRIBUTION AND ANALYSIS. IN 2010, VERMONT 2-1-1 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED BOTH PHASE ONE AND PHASE TWO OF THE NATIONAL ACCREDITATION PROCESS THROUGH THE ALLIANCE FOR INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SYSTEMS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PUBLIC VENUES ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL THAT HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED OUR HARD-EARNED SUCCESS. THE PROGRAM IS REQUIRED TO GO THROUGH RECERTIFICATION EVERY 5 YEARS.

UWCC ACTS AS THE FISCAL AGENT FOR UNITED WAYS OF VERMONT. PREPARATION OF THE 990 IS DONE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ANNUAL FINANCIAL AUDIT. A DRAFT 990 IS REVIEWED BY UWCC STAFF AND DISTRIBUTED TO UNITED WAYS OF VERMONT BOARD MEMBERS PRIOR TO BEING FILED. SUBSEQUENT TO DISTRIBUTION TO THE BOARD THE IRS FORM 990 IS FILED.
ENFORCEMENT OF CONFLICTS POLICY
