	Loans were made to media organizations in Armenia in order to strengthen them and to promote the growth of democracy in Armenia. The loans are intended to ensure the long-term financial and editorial independence of the media organizations, and to ensure that Armenian citizens can play an active part in the country's transition to democracy, free markets and civil society. Loans will generally be repaid over 5 years. Loan principal and interest payments are transferred into a trust account for future loans to Armenian media outlets.
