Grantmaker's Description of How Grants are Used   Scholarship applications are reviewed and scored (based upon the criteria of each scholarship) by an independent reading team. The applicant who scores the highest is awarded the scholarship. If the applicant is eligible for more than one scholarship, the one with the higher monetary value is awarded. The Community Investment Committee issues requests for proposals annually to award the Foundations initiative grants. RFPs are reviewed and representatives of the organizations are interviewed and grants are made to those demonstrating the ability to provide the largest impact in the community. Donor advised fund grant requests are researched by the President using Guidestar and IRS publication 78 to ensure each grant is made to a 501(c) 3 organization.
