| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | Form 990, Part III, Line 4d : Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Grow with Me - A community gardening and science project that takes place at the Floral Park Centennial Gardens. It is a field trip hosted by and planned by the Foundation for all the fifth graders of the floral park community, drawn from the three elementary schools in town. This program aims to teach community awareness and encourage community ownership by allowing children to help create a garden that they can see grow and thrive by the spring and by showing them they are one generation, regardless of school, & they should work together as a team to care for their world. This also builds self- esteem. Several outside programs are brought in to teach the children in accordance with the New York State fifth grade science standards. We supply snack and lunch. It takes place once a year, in the fall, and hosts just- under 300 children, plus their teachers and some parents. |
