National Clinical Conference: Each year ACNP hosts a National Clinical Conference, drawing over 1,100 nurse practitioners from across the country. Attendees select from over 100 clinical presentations covering the full range of clinical specialties. The conference location varies annually and is selected to offer easy access for nurse practitioners. An attempt is made to vary locations to appeal to different localities. In addition to the range of clinical sessions, the conference features keynote presentations and skills workshops. Pre-conference hands on skill workshops are extremely popular and offer in-depth attention for specific clinical practice requirements. ACNP also uses this gathering to host its Corporate Advisory Council as well as a plenary session for all attendees to highlight ACNP's activities and accomplishments. Input is sought from practicing NPs about their issues, concerns and priorities. The Exhibit Hall is another important element of this conference, with vendors from both the public and private sector on hand for face to face interaction with nurse practitioners.

Member Communication and Support: ACNP offers a host of communications tools to ensure that members are provided with current information about legislative and policy initiatives. In addition to a dynamic website featuring; policy advocacy tools, nurse practitioner practice resources, information on grant and scholarship opportunities, and an online continuing education module, ACNP provides regular electronic updates to its membership and affiliates regarding recent legislative and policy efforts, publications and news impacting the nurse practitioner profession, and upcoming events and activities. In addition, the ACNP Forum is included in each issue of The Journal for Nurse Practitioners (JNP) providing updates of ACNP activities and initiatives, topics and issues of interest to members, and articles by ACNP staff and members.

Advocacy: Consistent with ACNP's mission, significant resources and energy are devoted to strategies, primarily at the national level, to ensure that nurse practitioners are able to practice to the fullest extent of their education, credentialing, and authority. Currently significant barriers exist in federal regulations, guidelines, and sometimes law. Every year ACNP, led by its membership, develops its Public Policy Agenda to identify priorities for upcoming advocacy initiatives. The government relations firm coordinates strategies to resolve these barriers in the interest of quality patient care.

The compensation will be approved in advance and decided entirely by individuals who have no conflict of interest with respect to the compensation arrangement 2. The board or designated individuals will review comparability data that demonstrates the fair market value of the compensation for the CEO. This information will be obtained from association compensation studies; job offers for positions at similar organizations; information from IRS Form 990 filings of similar organizations as well as the level of responsibility expected of this individual. The financial situation of the organization will also be considered in determining compensation. 3. The board or designated committee will document in writing the factors considered in making the compensation determination. Records will be maintained of the persons present during the debate and the vote; the comparability data and how it was obtained; and any actions taken related to compensation by anyone not a member of the board or designated committee.

This policy requires disclosure of any activity that could be perceived as conflicting with the governance and fiduciary responsibilities of the Board. Additionally, speakers at ACNP meetings are required to sign disclosure / conflict of interest statements as a condition of their participation in any event.

Currently significant barriers exist in federal regulations, guidelines, and sometimes law. Every year ACNP, led by its membership, develops its Public Policy Agenda to identify priorities for upcoming advocacy initiatives. The government relations firm coordinates strategies to resolve these barriers in the interest of quality patient care.
