What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The New Orleans Oyster Festival, Inc.'s primary exempt purpose is to promote and sustain Louisiana oysters, restaurants, the Louisiana coast, the oyster farmers and the French Quarter which have helped create New Orleans and the French Quarter as the Oyster Capital of America. It promotes awareness of the Louisiana oyster and the disappearing habitat as a result of coastal erosion and the BP oil spill.
Describe what was achieved in carrying out the organization's exempt purposes. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The New Orleans Oyster Festival, Inc.'s major program service accomplishment is the organizing and execution of the Annual Oyster Festival which is held in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event is a two day Festival organized to promote awareness of the Louisiana oyster and the disappearing habitat as a result of coastal erosion and the BP oil spill. The proceeds from the 2010 Festival were disbursed to Save Our Coast Foundation, a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, and any funds remaining will be used to fund the 2011 Festival. The long term goal for the organization is to grow and increase our donations to Save Our Coast and other similarly dedicated Organizations.
