FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
AS A CHARITABLE COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION, WE SEEK TO CREATE A HEALTHY, CARING COMMUNITY THROUGH THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE INDIVIDUAL. WE SERVE MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN OF ALL AGES, ABILITIES, INCOMES, RACES AND RELIGIONS. OUR MISSION IS TO PUT CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD HEALTHY SPRIT, MIND, AND BODY FOR ALL. OUR IMPACT: THE YMCA IMPROVED THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF 19,155 PERSONS, WHICH INCLUDED PROVIDING FINANCIAL MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAM AID TO 2,216 INDIVIDUALS AND 686 FAMILIES.
FIRST ACHIEVEMENT DESCRIPTION

THE YMCA LINCOLN SCHOOL PROGRAM BRANCH SERVES INNER CITY YOUTH AND FAMILIES WITH AFTERSCHOOL DROP IN PROGRAMS, HEALTHY KIDS PROGRAMS, ADULT EXERCISE, AND MORE. PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, IMPROVE READING SKILLS, AND IMPROVE THEIR GENERAL LEVEL OF WELLNESS. SEVENTY FIVE-EIGHTY CHILDREN ATTEND THE DROP IN PROGRAM ON A DAILY BASES. DURING THE EVENINGS, THE Y SERVES MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. ON AVERAGE TWENTY-FOUR TEENS PARTICIPATE IN ORGANIZED SPORTS THAT SERVE TO IMPROVE FITNESS, INSTILL CHARACTER VALUES, AND AID IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT. SKILL DEVELOPMENT IS CRITICAL TO SAFETY, SELF-ESTEEM, AND LIFELONG PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. THROUGH PROGRAMS SUCH AS TENNIS, YOUTH SPORTS, SWIMMING LESSON, AND DANCE THE Y HELPS CHILDREN ACHIEVE, LEARN, AND GROW. THROUGH THE SWIMMING PROGRAM, HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN ARE SAFER AROUND THE WATER AND MORE CONFIDENT IN USING AQUATICS AS PART OF THEIR HEALTHY DAILY ACTIVITIES.
SECOND ACHIEVEMENT DESCRIPTION

ECONOMIC BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION. THE Y PROVIDES A WIDE VARIETY OF EXERCISE AND IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS. ARTHRITIC FOUNDATION AQUATIC CLASSES PROVIDE RELIEF TO PAIN AND RESTORE THE ABILITY TO BE INDEPENDENT FOR OVER 75 PEOPLE EACH YEAR. IN ADDITION, MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND RANGE OF MOVEMENT PROGRAMS ASSIST 68 SENIORS HELPING THEM BE PRODUCTIVE AND MAINTAIN A QUALITY OF LIFE. WATER AND LAND EXERCISE PROGRAMS ASSIST PARTICIPANTS IN MAINTAINING A HEALTHY WEIGHT AS WELL AS IMPROVING THEIR STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY. PARTICIPANTS REPORT A BETTER SELF-IMAGE AND THAT THE PROGRAMS AND RELATIONSHIPS DEVELOPED IN THE PROGRAMS HELP THEM MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES. THE Y HAS OVER 20 DIFFERENT HEALTHY LIVING, SPORTS AND RECREATION MAJOR PROGRAMS SERVING OVER 19,000 PEOPLE AGES 1-91.
