FORM 990 EZ SECTION III- PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF DOOR COUNTY IS A NONPROFIT CORPORATION WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO INSPIRE AND ENABLE ALL YOUNG PEOPLE TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AS PRODUCTIVE, RESPONSIBLE AND CARING CITIZENS. WE PROVIDE A SAFE AND NURTURING PLACE FOR CHILDREN AGES SIX THROUGH EIGHTEEN OF ALL RACES, RELIGIONS, CULTURES AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS. FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP, SUPPLEMENTED BY PART-TIME STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS, OPERATE TWO AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMING CENTERS. THIS PROGRAMMING INCLUDES: HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, HEALTHY SNACKS, MENTORING, CLUBS, FITNESS OPPORTUNITIES, AND HEALTHY MEAL ON MONDAY EVENING. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES A PLACE FOR MEMBERS TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND HAVE A FRESH START DAILY. IT IS A JUDGMENT FREE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN BE THEMSELVES AND BE APPRECIATED FOR THEIR INDIVIDUALITY. WE ALSO OPERATE A FULL-DAY SUMMER PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES CERTIFIED TEACHERS PROVIDING INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES IN MATH AND READING DAILY. WE WANT TO HELP OUR MEMBERS RETAIN THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SO THEY CAN START THE NEXT GRADE PREPARED FOR WHAT IS TO COME. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MANY COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND VOLUNTEERS WE OFFER A FULL DAY OF IMPACTFUL PROGRAMMING. MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO EXPAND THEIR SKILLS AND AREAS OF INTEREST BY PARTICIPATING IN "CLUBS". CLUBS MEET FOR ONE HOUR DAILY AND ARE PLANNED TO INCLUDE THREE MEASUREABLE IMPACT GOALS. FUN IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US, IT IS WHAT KEEPS OUR MEMBERS COMING BACK, HOWEVER; WE ALSO STRIVE TO PROVIDE LIFE-LESSONS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR SKILL AND INTRAPERSONAL GROWTH DURING CLUB TIME AS WELL. IN ADDITION TO CLUBS WE OFFER DAILY OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND PLAY. WE WANT OUR MEMBERS TO BE HEALTHY, AND INTRODUCING THEM TO NEW GAMES AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES HELPS THEM TO DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF LIFE-LONG HEALTH. OUR PRIMARY FOCUS IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE BASIC NEEDS OF ALL MEMBERS ARE BEING MET. OFFERING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT, HEALTHY FOOD, CARING ADULTS AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH CLUB STAFF AND MEMBERS IS AT THE CORE OF ALL WE DO. WE STRIVE TO HELP OUR YOUTH BE GOOD CITIZENS AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS SO THEY ARE PREPARED TO BE OUR COMMUNITY LEADERS IN THE FUTURE. THROUGH DAILY SMALL GROUP MEETINGS WE TALK THROUGH PROBLEMS AND CELEBRATE SUCCESSES, MODEL POSITIVE BEHAVIORS WHILE INCORPORATING CHARACTER AND VALUE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL OF THE YOUTH IN DOOR COUNTY.
