SchI_P01_S00_L02 Schedule I, Part I, Line 2 Corporate Donation Policy: Corporate donations must be focused around the mission and common bond of Equitable Reserve Association. They are made to benefit organizations and worthwhile programs that benefit the community, veterans, military and patriotic efforts and to needy individuals and families. Our donations are made to encourage our chapters' participation through active fundraising efforts and volunteerism. Fraternal Scholarship Benefit: Each year, up to $15,000 Scholarship Fund is available for non-traditional students, age 25 and over, who are working toward and undergraduate degree. Disaster Relief Benefit: If an eligible member suffers property loss as a result of a federal or state declared disaster (flood, hurricane, earthquake, tornado), a benefit of up to $500 is paid out to cover out-of-pocket expenses. High School Graduation Benefit: A $50 check is awarded to graduating high school seniors who attend their local chapter's graduation dinner. The graduate is then eligible to participate in a drawing for a $700 gift certificate toward the purchase of a computer, Matching Funds Benefit: The Association supports chapter sponsored fundraising efforts for community projects, local organizations and people in need by offering up to $1,000 in matching funds for these worthy causes.

F990_P06_S0A_L04 Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4 In 2010, the Articles of Incorporation were amended to change the Association's purpose to be more relevant in today's world and to name the Board of Directors as the supreme governing body of the Association. The Board now has the power to enact Bylaws and to repeal or Amend them. Notice of amendments to the Articles or Bylaws will be given to members through the Association's official publication, The Guide. Changes to the Association's bylaws were enacted so that Management and the Board could react more quickly and adapt to changing regulatory requirements. The change in the Board being the supreme governing body allows for clear authority and direct lines of accountability such as the Board appointing the President and the President appointing all other Executive Officers. There will be full membership voting (by ballot) in electing a director to the board. There are knowledge and education requirements for a board position. These changes incorporate good governance and best practices and a more effective Corporate Structure. Since the changes were enacted, there are now subcommittees of the Board of Directors such as a Governance Committee, an Audit Committee, an Investment Committee and a Board Fraternal Committee.
F990_P06_S0A_L06 Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 The Association has the following types of members: a Benefit Member - a person age 16 or older who is granted a certificate of membership and insurance benefits or who receives a settlement agreement benefit by virtue of such insurance in accordance with eligibility rules established by resolution by the by Board of Directors. Benefit Members may participate in the affairs and activities of the Chapter in which they are members and may also hold office in the Chapter. Benefit members also have the right to vote in the corporate and insurance affairs of this fraternal benefit society according to the articles and bylaws. Junior Member - a person under the age of 16 and eligible in all other respects other than age to be a Benefit Member and upon whose life insurance is issued by the Association. Application for Junior Membership will be completed by an adult person on behalf of the applicant for Junior membership. Upon attaining the age of 16, the Junior Member will become a Benefit Member of the Association and Chapter with all of the rights and responsibilities of a Benefit Member. Social Member - a person age 16 or older who is granted a certificate of membership without insurance benefits, in accordance with eligibility rules established by the Board of Directors. Social Members may participate in the affairs and activities of the Chapter in which they are members and may hold office therein but will not have the right to vote in the corporate and insurance affairs of this fraternal benefit society.
