Explanation
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11
The Club's process to review Form 990 - The Finance Committee reviews the 990, raises any questions or comments to the preparer with a recommendation to move it to the Executive Committee for review and approval, and finally, to the full Board for review and approval. The document is sent to all parties in advance to have an opportunity to review and address any questions or concerns before a scheduled meeting is held.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c
Enforcement of Conflicts Policy - The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors is responsible for interpreting this policy and determining any potential conflict of interest reported under this policy as it relates to employees and trustees. All employees and trustees shall maintain a constant awareness of potential conflicts of interest, encourage disclosures of possible conflicts of interest, and initiate prompt action in the event any actual conflict of interest arises. If a conflict of interest is suspected, employees should discuss with their supervisor or executive director. If that is not appropriate, then employees should present the potential conflict of interest to the board chairman for review and appropriate action. If the Executive Committee has reasonable cause to believe an employee or trustee has failed to disclose a conflict of interest, the individual will have an opportunity to explain the alleged failure to disclose. If, after hearing the individual's response, the Executive Committee determines that there has been a failure to disclose a conflict of interest, it shall take appropriate disciplinary and corrective action.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a
Compensation Process for Top Official - The board chairman will conduct the Executive Director's annual performance review and will recommend appropriate action, including compensation, with the full support of the executive committee. The Executive Committee will periodically review executive compensation of similar non-profit positions within the region and among the Club's network to assure that compensation is appropriate and reasonable.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19
Governing Documents Disclosure Explanation - The organization does not currently make governing documents, policies, and financial statements available to the public.

Over 200 volunteers support Gildas Club by sharing their talents and time in a variety of ways including clerical support, cooking, cleaning the clubhouse, facilitating workshops, art classes, educational programs, and serving at the reception desk to meet and greet members and visitors. Cancer Support Community
Form 990, Part VI, Governance, Management, and Disclosure
Effective June 1, 2011, The Wellness Community and Gildas Club Worldwide officially merged under the name of Cancer Support Community. Gildas Club Western Pennsylvania chose to operate under the existing licensing agreement from Gildas Club Worldwide which still remains in effect while we explore what our future relationship will be with Cancer Support Community. A Strategic Planning Committee comprised of board members continues to meet monthly to explore and analyze data to develop a recommendation to go to the Executive Committee and full board in the months ahead.
