SAF IS AN ONGOING PROGRAM, FUNDED THROUGH NCAA GRANTS, WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF ASSISTING STUDENT ATHLETES IN PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC AREAS. TYPES OF ASSISTANCE INCLUDE: TUITION ASSISTANCE (FOR SUMMER SCHOOL AND FIFTH OR SIXTH YEAR); ACADEMIC TUTORING; ASSISTANCE WITH MEDICAL AND DENTAL EXPENSES; CLOTHING ALLOWANCES AND ASSISTANCE WITH TRAVEL FOR FAMILY EMERGENCIES. THE SAF HELPS 2,500 STUDENTS ANNUALLY.

IN THE PAST FISCAL YEAR, OVER 400 SPORTING EVENTS HAVE BEEN SHOWN ON HLN, INCLUDING 9 LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS. HLN REACHED AN AUDIENCE OF 360,000 VIEWERS IN 2010-11. CONTENT ON THE WEBSITE INFORMS, EDUCATES AND ENHANCES OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES' EXPERIENCES. THE LEAGUE ALSO HAS AGREEMENTS WITH LOCAL TELEVISION IN MEMBER SCHOOLS' MARKETS FOR TV PRODUCTION AND AIRING OF ATHLETIC EVENTS.
