THE CENTER'S MINISTRY STARTED SERVING THE POOR IN THE MEMPHIS URBAN AREA IN 1978. ALTHOUGH CERTAIN EMPLOYEES ARE RELATED TO THE FOUNDER AND A FORMER OFFICER OF THE CENTER, EITHER AS LINEAL DESCENDENTS OR THROUGH MARRIAGE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOROVED THEIR EMPLOYMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: A HEART FOR MINISTRY-HAVING GROWN UP IN THE MINSTRY, EACH OF THESE EMPLOYEES HAVE A HEART AND PASSION FOR THE DEMANDING TASK OF SERVING THE POOR. EACH OF THESE EMPLOYEES LEFT A SUCCESSFUL PROFESSION IN ORDER TO ENTER THE MINISTRY AT NCC.
