OUR VISION THE CADILLAC AREA YMCA IS DEDICATED TO BUILDING A HEALTHY, VITAL, AND CARING COMMUNITY THROUGH ENRICHMENT AND DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS FOR ALL. OUR CORE VALUES CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES OUR YMCA IS INCLUSIVE, WELCOMING ALL REGARDLESS OF AGE, GENDER, RACE, CREED OR ECONOMIC STATUS. OUR YMCA IS A VOLUNTEER-DRIVEN ORGANIZATION. THE STRONG VOLUNTEER/STAFF PARTNERSHIP IS FUNDAMENTAL TO MAINTAINING THE LONG-TERM VITALITY AND RELEVANCY OF THE ASSOCIATION. YMCA PROGRAMS HELP DEVELOP SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-CONFIDENCE, BUILD LASTING RELATIONSHIPS, AND INCREASE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT. SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT-LARGE, WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE FULL FEE. IN 2010 CLASSES AND PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED AT THREE SITES WITH 2101 PARTICIPATING: AQUATICS - 656 PARTICIPANTS GYMNASTICS - 259 PARTICIPANTS INDOOR SOCCER - 18 PARTICIPANTS TAEKWANDO - 158 PARTICIPANTS SPECIAL EVENTS - 154 PARTICIPANTS PRESCHOOL - 126 PARTICIPANTS CHILD WATCH - 7,750 VISITS LACROSSE - 75 YOUTH SPORTS - 124 PARTICIPANTS ADULT SPORTS - 200 PARTICIPANTS SENIOR FIT - 34 PARTICIPANTS ART AND ENRICHMENT CLASSES - 69 PARTICIPANTS HEALTH AND FITNESS - 150 PARTICIPANTS YOUTH SUMMER CAMP - 261 PARTICIPANTS LOVE AND LOGIC - 37 PARTICIPANTS ADDITIONALLY, 3567 TEEN VISITS WERE MADE TO THE YMCA AFTER SCHOOL TEEN CENTER. Y-TEENS ENGAGED IN A NUMBER OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS INCLUDING: SALVATION ARMY KETTLE DRIVE AND SHOVELING FOR A LOCAL NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION. YMCA TEEN PROGRAMMING RESPONDS TO A DEMONSTRATED COMMUNITY NEED, CONSISTENTLY CITED AS A COMMUNITY PRIORITY. 109,080 WAS GRANTED IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO 1802 INDIVIDUALS ALLOWING THEIR PARTICIPATION IN ABOVE PROGRAMS AND YMCA MEMBERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, THE YMCA SUBSIDIZED ALL TEEN PROGRAMS IN THE AMOUNT OF 20,000. NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY FROM YMCA PROGRAMS DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY. IN 2010 THE YMCA COLLABORATED WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND AGENCIES AS PART OF THE YMCA'S COMMITMENT TO THE BROADER COMMUNITY NEEDS; WORKING FOR POLICY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES THAT FOSTER A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY ALL AROUND. WORKING WITH YUSA THE CADILLAC AREA YMCA FACILITATED AND COORDINATED A COMMUNITY GRANT EFFORT IN PIONEERING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES THAT HAS FORMED A TEAM OF COMMUNITY LEADERS TO DEVELOP A PLAN TO ENCOURAGE POSITIVE POLICY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES THAT WILL RESULT IN A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY. THE YMCA COLLABORATED, PARTNERED, AND/OR PARTICIPATED WITH THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS IN 2010 TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY NEEDS: HEALTHY LIFESTYLE COALITION, HUMAN SERVICES LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, CADILLAC AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, EXTENSION SERVICE, FAMILIES FIRST - LOVE-N-LOGIC, CADILLAC AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, BAKER COLLEGE OF CADILLAC, CADILLAC AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, ROTARY CLUB, SALVATION ARMY, OASIS, AND CLUB CADILLAC. A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE CADILLAC AREA YMCA'S MISSION HAS BEEN TO PROVIDE A YMCA COMMUNITY CENTER FACILITY. NO SUCH FACILITY HAS BEEN AVAILABLE IN THE REGION AND MEETING THE NEED FOR SUCH HAS BEEN A LARGE MANDATE TO THE ORGANIZATION BY THE COMMUNITY. THE VISION FOR SUCH A FACILITY CAME TO FRUITION AT THE END OF 2009 WITH THE OPENING OF THE 35,000 SQUARE FOOT YMCA DILLON COMMUNITY CENTER. THIS FACILITY INCLUDES A SIX LANE, 25 YARD POOL, SPA, GYMNASIUM, WELLNESS CENTER, TEEN CENTER, COMMUNITY ROOMS, LOBBY, LOCKER ROOMS, AND OUTDOOR PROGRAM SPACES. DURING THE 2010 YEAR MUCH TIME WAS SPENT BY VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF IN BRINGING THIS FACILITY AND ITS MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAMS UP TO CAPACITY. EFFORT WAS PUT INTO SECURING ADDITIONAL NEEDED FUNDS, TROUBLESHOOTING AND FIXING CONSTRUCTION DETAILS AND MECHANICAL ISSUES, HIRING AND TRAINING THE EXTRA STAFF. BY YEAR'S END THE YMCA HAD 1160 MEMBERSHIP UNITS.
