The executive committee uses information from the Orchestra Compensation Report and the Orchestra Statistical Report which is prepared by the League of Symphony Orchestras to review the compensation, duties and contract with the President/CEO. The Music Director's duties and contract and fees are reviewed by the Artistic Committee comprised of board members, Symphony CEO and musicians. A survey is given to contract musicians and results are reviewed by the Executive Committee. The Orchestra Compensation Reports prepared annually by Drew McManus are consulted for comparison guidelines. The reports are published each year and examine the compensation trends among orchestra executives, music directors, concertmasters, and base musicians at 76 professional U.S. orchestras. The Music Director's contract is re-negotiated every three (3) years unless the contract is cancelled by either party according to clauses outlined in the contract. |
