What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? TO PROMOTE, INDUCE, FOSTER, ENCOURAGE, AND DEVELOP NEW INDUSTRIES AND BUSINESSES IN THE CITY OF SISSETON AND THE COUNTY OF ROBERTS, BY ADVERTISEMENT AND INDUCEMENTS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PEOPLE OF SISSETON AND ROBERTS COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA, AND BETTER THE ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL LIFE OF THE CITY OF SISSETON AND COUNTY OF ROBERTS IN GENERAL; TO AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND RELOCATION OF NEW BUSINESSES IN AND TO THE CITY OF SISSETON AND COUNTY OF ROBERTS, BY PERSONAL CONTACTS, ADVERTISEMENT, AND OTHER MEANS IN ORDER TO BETTER THE ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE; TO PROVIDE AID TO BUSINESSES THAT WISH TO RELOCATE OR EXPAND OPERATIONS TO THE CITY OF SISSETON OR COUNTY OF ROBERTS.

28 1.) SEDC PROVIDED A LOW INTEREST LOAN TO A LOCAL BUSINESS OWNER TO EXPAND HIS BUSINESS. THE LOAN ENABLED THE BUSINESS TO PURCHASE A LOT IN THE SEDC INDUSTRIAL PARK AND CONSTRUCT A NEW BUILDING. WITH EXPANDED SPACE, THE BUSINESS OWNER WILL BE ABLE TO EXPAND STAFF, CREATING 1-2 ADDITIONAL JOBS.2.) SEDC HELPED ATTRACT A NEW DENTIST TO THE COMMUNITY BY ASSISTING IN A MATCHING FUND OBLIGATION FOR THE SOUTH DAKOTA DENTIST TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM THROUGH THE SD DEPT OF HEALTH. THE NEW DENTIST PURCHASED THE EXISTING DENTAL CLINIC AND HELPED RETAIN 5 JOBS IN THE COMMUNITY. HE IS THE ONLY DENTIST LOCATED IN ROBERTS COUNTY.3.) SEDC ENCOURAGED DEVELOPMENT OF NEW BUSINESSES AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL TRAINING OPPPORTUNITES FOR INDIVIDUALS FROM SISSETON AND ROBERTS COUNTY. PARTNERSHIPS WITH SD RURAL ENTERPRISE INC., GLACIAL LAKES DAKOTA RISING, AND THE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER PROVIDED RESOURCES FOR THE EDUCATIONAL VENUES.
