| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | Form 990, Part III, Line 4d : Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Road & storm drain maintenance - The Association owns some 28 miles of roads, and is fully responsible for the maintenance, repair and reconstruction of these roads. The Association's road maintenance activities promote the general welfare of the community and, because road maintenance is an essential governmental function, the activities lessen the burden of The Town of Seabrook Island and/or the County of Charleston. The area serviced by the Association roads is the entire island of Seabrook island, which is isolated from the surrounding area natural boundaries. The Association also maintains all storm drains that serve the community. This is a particularly important service on a low lying island subject to hurricane flooding. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Municipal services -The Association contracts with a private waste hauler for rubbish services to the community, and provides maintenance of streets, greenbelts, lakes, and recreational facilities. The Association also provides private security patrol services, architectural control services, and community communications via email and newsletter. These activities are similar to activities provided in numerous locations by cities, or governmental special districts and recreation and park districts. |
