OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Training facilities in Costa Rica.Nuevas Oportunidades, Costa RicaNuevas Oportunidades (New Opportunities) is a newly founded project created to provide computer training to children and young adults. Approximately 36 children and young adults from a shelter in the province of Heredia and a group of approximately 80 children from the "Los Angeles" school in San Rafael Heredia will be able to attend this program. Many of them come from dysfunctional families and have little or no access to higher education. The training will focus on enabling the children to find better paying opportunities after they leave the shelters. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Training facilities in the Dominican Republic.Orfanato Ninos de Cristo, La Romana, Dominican RepublicOrfanato Nios De Cristo meaning Orphaned Children of Christ, was founded ten years ago by Sonia Hane, a native Dominican, who had been living in the United States for several years when she felt a strong call to return to her country to open a home devoted to abandoned, abused, or orphaned children. The mission of the orphanage is to provide a safe home, family and education to these children and to prepare them for adulthood. There are currently 124 children in the orphanage. OSF provided a grant to equip the classrooms with thirty computers. In addition, OSF provides funds to pay the teacher's salary on a continuing basis. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Training facilities in Mexico.Asilo Primavera A.C., Mexico D.F. MexicoAsilo Prmavera meaning Youth Home provides living spaces, food and education. Orphaned Starfish donated 16 computers, two servers and has provided support to the computer teacher, who happens to be an alumnus of Asilo Primavera.Ciudad Ninos y Ninas de la Paz, La Paz , Baja California, Sur MexicoThe translation meaning The Boys & Girls City of Peace, this program provides living and learning facilities to abused and orphaned boys and girls. Orphaned Starfish's participation consists of providing funds to build and equip a new computer facility and also provides the equipment needed for Internet access.Kaambal Project, Yucatn, MexicoOrphaned Starfish is teaming up with Fundacion para los Ninos del Planeta (Children of the Earth Foundation) to support the construction and equipping of a computer school.Ojos Que Sieinten, Mxico City, MxicoOjos Que Sienten, (Eyes that Feel), founded in August 2006, is an organization dedicated to professionally, academically and socially integrating the visually impaired individuals into society. Ojos Que Sienten provides vocational training and support, as well as, access to special software and hardware that allows the children, young adults and adults, to use computers, printers, and other productivity tools. The center's learning approach is through the arts. Visually impaired individuals are introduced to the world through photography. OSF will equip the center with computers, special equipment and software for the visually impaired. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Traing facilities in Panama.Orfelinato San Jose de Malambo, PanamaOSF provided a grant to fund the furnishing of a computer classroom with thirteen computers and peripherals, four printers, air-conditioning unit, and internet connectivity on an annual basis.Ciudadela de Jesus y Mara Orphanage, PanamaName meaning Care by Jesus and Mary, OSF will provide 22 new PC's including software, printers, multimedia projector, and Internet connectivity to be used in the orphanage's computer room. The program will allow the children to improve their computer skills and increase their level of literacy by accelerating the learning process in all the subjects OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Various educational scholarships, grants, and travel expenses.
