The Foundation by-laws provide that monies received from Sponsorships by companies and organizations is to be invested. Interest income earned on investments will be first used to pay the costs of the Foundation. After those costs are recovered, the net interest income is to be provided to ASBOG.

Briefly describe the organization’s mission: The ASBOG Foundation is an organization incorporated under the laws the State of South Carolina. It is organized and operates exclusively for the benefit of, and carry out the tax exempt purposes of the National Association of State Boards of Geology. One of the primary tasks of ASBOG is to prepare, administer, score, defend and maintain relevant questions for the National Geology Examinations. To perform its support mission of ASBOG, the Foundation sells monetary sponsorships to corporations, government entities, and individuals whose main business is includes utilization of geology, geologic activities, and/or geologic expertise. The Foundation's by-laws provide that sponsorships monies received are to be invested in investment-grade interest-bearing securities having limited market risk. After costs of operating the Foundation are recovered, substantially all remaining net investment income is intended to be provided to ASBOG as unrestricted support.
