THE WALDO COUNTY YMCA IS A CHARITABLE COMMUNITY SERVICES ORGANIZATION THAT INCLUDES MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF ANY AGE, ABILITY, INCOME, RACE OR RELIGION. WE ARE DEDICATED TO BUILDING STRONG KIDS, STRONG FAMILIES AND STRONG COMMUNITIES BY PUTTING OUR CORE VALUES OF CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, STRONG VALUES, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNITY INTERACTION AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING. OLDER ADULT PROGRAMS - THE WALDO COUNTY YMCA CONTINUES TO HOST MONTHLY FREE LUNCHEONS FOR FOLKS 60 YEARS AND OLDER. THE LUNCHEONS PROVIDE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SENIORS TO SOCIALIZE. A SPEAKER OR ENTERTAINMENT IS PROVIDED AT SOME LUNCHEONS WITH TOPICS RANGING FROM HEALTH OR SOCIAL ISSUES TO JUST PLAIN FUN. OUR "LIFETIME FITNESS" CLASSES OFFER ACTIVITY FOR LIFELONG FITNESS. IT INCLUDES WARM-UP STRETCHES, WALKING, LOW-LEVEL AEROBICS, OPTIONAL CHAIR EXERCISES, MUSCLE STRENGTHENING AND RELAXATION TO BURN CALORIES WHILE IMPROVING FLEXIBILITY, MUSCLE TONE, COORDINATION, BALANCE AND HEART AND LUNG CAPACITY. OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO THOSE IN NEED. THESE PROGRAMS SERVE ABOUT 700 INDIVIDUALS WITH OVER 6,200 UNITS OF SERVICE.
