YOUTH ACTION MEMBERS AND PEER TRAINERS REACHED NEARLY 200 PEERS IN PRESENTATIONS OF BEST PRACTICES ON YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND THROUGH PEER-TO-PEER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES. THE MEDIA. CCC ENGAGED TV, PRINT, AND RADIO MEDIA FOCUSED ON INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE NEEDS OF NEW YORK CITY'S CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AND THE BENEFITS OF PROTECTING INVESTMENTS IN PROVEN PROGRAMS. CCC SECURED OVER ONE HUNDRED TWENTY SIX (126) MEDIA HITS WITH FORTY FIVE (45) DIRECT QUOTES BY PROVIDING CRITICAL BACKGROUND INFORMATION TO JOURNALISTS, DISTRIBUTING FACT SHEETS AND BUDGET ANALYSIS, HOLDING RALLIES AND PRESS CONFERENCES, AND GUIDING REPORTERS THROUGH THE FINE DETAIL OF POLICY, PROGRAM AND BUDGETARY PARAMETERS OF KEY POLICY ISSUES AS WELL AS ADVANCING EMBARGOED COPIES OF OUR REPORTS. STATE, CITY AND FEDERAL BUDGET ADVOCACY: MEETINGS WITH AND TESTIMONY BEFORE STATE, LOCAL AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS: CCC MET YEAR ROUND WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS AT THE STATE, LOCAL AND FEDERAL LEVEL ON POLICY AND BUDGETARY PRIORITIES FOR CHILDREN. OUR REPORT, GREEN CARTS: YEAR ONE IMPLEMENTATION, WAS RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2010, POSTED ONLINE AND DISTRIBUTED WIDELY TO ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS. THE REPORT FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS HAVE BEEN INTEGRATED INTO OUR POLICY AND BUDGETARY ADVOCACY. EXAMINED SCHOOL BASED DENTAL CLINIC CLOSURES: CCC UNDERTOOK AN ANALYTIC PROJECT TO DOCUMENT THE IMPACT OF THE ELIMINATION OF DOHMH'S SCHOOL BASED DENTAL PROGRAM AND THE TRANSITION TOWARD THE PRIVATE COMMUNITY BASED SERVICE DELIVERY ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. WE EXPECT TO USE WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED TO INFORM A MORE IN DEPTH ASSESSMENT OF ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE FOR MEDICAID ELIGIBLE CHILDREN. ILLUSTRATED THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF PROPOSED CUTS TO ZERO TO FIVE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES BY COMMUNITY DISTRICT: CCC PERFORMED ANALYTIC WORK TO ILLUSTRATE THE NEED FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AMONG YOUNG CHILDREN AND THE CURRENT LOCATION AND CAPACITY OF SERVICES OFFERED THROUGH THE ZERO TO FIVE INITIATIVE. CCC CRAFTED AND ADMINISTERED A QUALITATIVE STREET SURVEY TO DOCUMENT PARENT OPINION ON SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND THE OPTION OF BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM. WE COLLECTED QUALITATIVE DATA FROM PARENTS IN THE BRONX, BROOKLYN, AND MANHATTAN AND ANTICIPATE THAT THE ANALYSIS OF THE DATA WILL INFORM ADDITIONAL RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY.COMMENCED TASK FORCE TO ENDING CHILDHOOD HUNGER. CCC'S WIC TASK FORCE EXAMINES THE USE OF PRODUCE VOUCHERS BY WIC PARTICIPANTS AND THE PARTICIPATION OF FARMERS IN THE WIC PRODUCE VOUCHER PROGRAM. THIS PROJECT IS WELL UNDERWAY WITH A POLICY BRIEFING, ALL BACKGROUND RESEARCH, AND SURVEY DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING COMPLETED THIS SPRING 2011.
