What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? To act for, promote, and enhance the nursing profession.
Describe what was achieved in carrying out the organization's exempt purposes. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The Association has three primary purposes:To work for the improvement and availability of nursing standards and the availability of health care services for all people,To foster high standards of professional nursing and,To stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses.The IENA is a constituent of the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) and operates in Spokane, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Lincoln and Adams Counties. The purpose is accomplished by a myriad of functions including, but not limited to: Promoting the standards of nursing, nursing education, nursing services, adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses;Provide for continuing development of nurses;Encourage research in nursing and the utilization of research findings as a basis for nursing practice;Represent nurses and promote relationships with other healthcare professionals and community leaders; Assume an active role as health care advocate;Promote the profession of nursing as a career.During 2010, there were 1880 members. Members are encouraged to participate in the annual Gala and Legis activities sponsored by the Association. Scholarships are available for members upon application for various nursing continuing education expenses. Five such scholarships were provided during 2010.
