BAPTIST CROSSROADS FOUNDATION DEMONSTRATES COMPASSION TO WORKING FAMILIES-IN-NEED BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HOME OWNERSHIP IN GREATER NEW ORLEANS THROUGH THE LOVE AND LABOR OF VOLUNTEERS AND COLLABORATION WITH LIKE-MINDED GROUPS. THE FIRST UNDERTAKING OF THE FOUNDATION WAS TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TO THE BAPTIST CROSSROADS PROJECT SCHEDULED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2006 IN NEW ORLEANS. BAPTIST CROSSROADS FOUNDATION HAS CONTINUED TO PROVIDE THIS LEADERSHIP THROUGH 2010 AND BEYOND. BAPTIST CROSSROADS FOUNDATION HAS PARTNERED WITH NEW ORLEANS AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND BAPTIST COMMUNITY MINISTRIES TO CONSTRUCT HOMES AND PROVIDE INTEREST FREE AMORTIZING MORTGAGES FOR NINTH WARD WORKING FAMILIES. AN ANCILLARY UNDERTAKING OF THE FOUNDATION IS ASSIST THE COMMUNITY IN DEVELOPING AVENUES FOR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, CURRENTLY REFLECTED IN A VOLUNTEER AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM FOR AREA STUDENTS.

"PEACE ON THE PLAYGROUND" SERVES AS A FOCAL PROGRAM IN THE COORDINATION OF FAITH- AND COMMUNITY-BASED RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN THE AREAS SURROUNDING THE PLAYGROUNDS NETWORKED THROUGHOUT NEW ORLEANS. BAPTIST FOUNDATION CROSSROADS' ROLE IS TO COORDINATE FAITH- AND COMMUNITY-BASED PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE PUBLIC PLAYGROUNDS AND THE MUNICIPAL AGENCIES THAT ADMINISTER THEM. IN THIS WAY BAPTIST CROSSROADS FOUNDATION, AND A NETWORK OF AREA NEW TESTAMENT CHURCHES CAN BE MARSHALED TO CARRY OUT CHRISTIAN MINISTRY WITHOUT OFFENSE TO THE FEDERAL OR STATE CONSTITUTIONS.
