VOLUNTEERS ARE USED AT ALL OF OUR EVENTS TO SET UP AND TEAR DOWN, MAN GATES AND REFRESHMENT BOOTHS, COORDINATE ACTIVITIES, MARSHALL THE PARADES AND JUDGE AT THE SCIENCE AND INVENTORS FAIR. THEY RECEIVE NOMINAL BENEFITS, SUCH AS A VOLUNTEER T-SHIRT USED TO IDENTIFY THEM AS EFOL VOLUNTEERS AND REFRESHMENTS WHILE DOING VOLUNTEER DUTIES. NO VOLUNTEERS ARE OTHERWISE COMPENSATED. FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A - FIRST ACHIEVEMENT KING AND QUEEN THAT INVOLVES YOUNG PEOPLE IN MUSIC,DANCE,AND DRAMA AS ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE THOSE ATTENDING AWARD CEREMONIES. ADMISSION IS FREE. A PORTION OF THE COST OF PUBLISHING THE PROGRAM IS OFFSET BY AD REVENUE FROM FESTIVAL SPONSORS. 3. CALENDAR OF EVENTS - THIS PUBLICATION PROMOTES FESTIVAL SPONSORS AND EVENTS. THE 150,000 ISSUES ARE MAILED TO TOURIST AGENCIES, HOTELS, RETIREMENT CENTERS, BUSINESSES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGHT THE UNITED STATES. LOCAL BUSINESSES ADD THE CALENDAR TO CUSTOMER MAILINGS; LOCAL NEWSPAPERS INSERT THE CALENDAR FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SUBSCRIBERS. 4. EDISON FESTIVAL OF LIGHT 5K RACE - OVER 1,300 RUNNERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD RUN IN THIS PRESTIGIOUS RACE. 5. CRAFTS ON THE RIVER - THIS RIVERFRONT GATHERING OF CRAFTERS AND ARTISTS BENEFITS A LOCAL CHARITABLE SORORITY CHAPTER. 6. ILLUMINATED BED RACE - FUN, FREE ADMISSION ACTIVITY SERVES AS A MEDIA GATHERING AND KICKOFF EVENT. SEVERAL LOCAL BUSINESSES, MEDIA GROUPS AND FIREFIGHTERS RACE ILLUMINATED BEDS TO SEE WHO COULD BUILD A FASTER BED.
