What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? TO MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST MORAL AND ETHICAL STANDARDS IN EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND TRAINING IN THE PRACTICE OF PATHOLOGY; TO DEVELOP AND PROMOTE THE APPLICATION OF THE OSTEOPATHIC CONCEPT IN THE FIELD OF PATHOLOGY; TO EVALUATE, DETERMINE AND ESTABLISH METHODS, REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES IN THE EDUCATION OF OSTEOPATHIC PHYSICIANS IN THE FIELD OF PATHOLOGY; TO INSURE THAT ALL PROGRAMS CONDUCTED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE ORGANIZATION ARE IN ACCORD WITH THE ADOPTED POLICIES OF THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION; AND TO STUDY AND PROMOTE SUCH OTHER ARTS AND SCIENCES AS WILL IMPROVE THE PRACTICE OF PATHOLOGY.

28 The Organization offers an annual continuing medical education (CME) conference held in conjunction with the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) annual conference. This program is accredited by the AOA as 18 credits of Category 1-A CME. The Organization also works very closely with the American Osteopathic Board of Pathologists (AOBP). The Organization and the AOBP are working to update and revise the basic standards of pathology and its sub specialties. These standards must be updated for the benefit of certifying boards and to allow new residency programs to be developed.
