Explanation:

The 2010 return was inadvertently filed after the required due date. This was a one time event due to it being the initial filing of a new treasurer of the organization and changes have been implemented to stop this from occuring again including implementing an automated reminder system in our organizations computer calender. The board of directors, including the treasurer and president, changed shortly prior to the due date of the return, and there was confusion about who would file the return, which unfortunately was not filed. THe origional extension was filed by the previous treasurer and then a lack of communication and confusion lead to the return not being filed timely. The organization has taken actions to ensure that all future filings will be timely by placing the timely filing of all future returns in the job description of the treasurer who holds the position on the due date of the return. Our organization is a labor organization that raises money for local charaties and numerous scholarships to deserving High School seniors in our community. Any late filing penalty would seriosuly hamper our ability to help deserving charaties and students due to our tight limited budget. All officers and directors in our organization are volunteers and we operated in good faith and had no intention of deceit when the filing was late. We believe the facts and circumstances outlined above support an abatement of the penalty especially given that steps have been taken to ensure that all future filings will be timely.
