FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 28
PERFORMANCE: IN THE FALL OF 2011, WE PRODUCED A FEMINIST ADAPTATION OF FEDERICO GARCIA LORCAS THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA. IN THE LATE FALL AND THROUGHOUT THE EARLY MONTHS OF 2012, WE ADAPTED JANE WILSON JOYCES BOOK OF NARRATIVE POETRY, BEYOND THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, INTO AN ORIGINAL PERFORMANCE PIECE THAT TOLD THE STORY OF KY WOMEN TRAVELING WEST ALONG THE OREGON TRAIL. THIS PREMIERED IN MARCH AT THE RUDYARD KIPLINGS ROUNDTABLE THEATER. OUR SEASON ENDED IN JUNE WITH LOOKING FORWARD, LOOKING BACK: 2 NEW PLAYS IN REPARATORY, WHICH INCLUDED 10 YEARS, 7 STORIES, A RETROSPECTIVE OF OUR FIRST DECADE OF ORIGINAL PLAYS, AND A WORKSHOP PRODUCTION OF OUR NEWEST ORIGINAL DEVISED WORK, BECOMING MOTHERS. IN ADDITION, WE TOURED FABRIC, FLAMES, AND FERVOR: GIRLS OF THE TRIANGLE TO MIAMI UNIVERSITY OF OHIO AND TO EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY, AND TOURED STRANGERS/EXTRANJERAS TO MIAMI UNIVERSITY OF OHIO. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE TOURED OUR PRODUCTIONS OF "CHOICES: AN INTERACTIVE PLAY ON CYBERBULLYING AND TEEN SUICIDE" TO OVER 2 DOZEN SCHOOLS.
SECOND ACCOMPLISHMENT
FORM 990-EZ, PART III, LINE 29
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: WE CONDUCTED 7 WEEKS OF IN-SCHOOL RESIDENCIES AT HAWTHORNE AND WILDER ELEMENTARIES AND AT THE DE PAUL SCHOOL, INCLUDING A PLAY-WRITING RESIDENCY IN WHICH A GROUP OF STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES WROTE SCENES BASED ON THEIR OWN STORIES OF STRUGGLE AND SUCCESS IN EDUCATION. WE WERE VERY PROUD TO PRESENT A SESSION ON THE EFFICACY OF FORUM THEATRE WITH TEENAGERS AT THE AMERICAN ALLIANCE OF THEATRE IN EDUCATION CONFERENCE IN AUGUST OF 2012, AND TO PERFORM CHOICES AT THE NATIONAL PRE-CONFERENCE ON BULLYING PREVENTION. FINALLY, WE CONDUCTED FURTHER RESIDENCIES WITH WOMEN IN GUATEMALA, FOCUSING THIS YEAR ON USING FORUM THEATRE TO ADDRESS ISSUES OF NUTRITION IN INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES.
