What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? The primary purpose of the Organization of News Ombudsmen is to educate the news media and the public on the need and responsibilities of ombudsmen, to establish and refine standards for this position, to aid in the establishment of the position of new media ombudsmen and to provide the interchange of experiences and ideas among news ombudsmen.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 ONO created a guide on ombudsmenship and translated it from English to Spanish and French. ONO maintained a website where ombudsmen columns were added weekly and translated from English to French, Flemish and Spanish and vice versa. ONO created outreach programs to Vietnam, Moldova, Brasalia, Taiwan, Duke University to meet Chinese journalists, Stony Brook to meet with Pakistani journalists and delivered keynote to US Ombudsmen Association and held an annual conference for our 40 attending members.
