	Our purpose is to educate recyclers on the proper procedures for mercury removal and provide a means for the collection and recycling of automotive mercury switches; Our achievement is that the number of participant recyclers continues to grow and the amount of switches is steadily increasing. In 2011, we collected 711,109 automotive switches containing mercury for environmentally-friendly recycling, bringing the cumulative total to over 4.2 million switches. We had the ongoing participation of all 50 states. We increased the number of program participants (recyclers) to 9,419. Educational materials providing training in environmentally-friendly disposal were provided to all participants. More than one half ton of mercury was collected from switches in 2011, bringing our cumulative program total to over 3.8 tons.
