| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | Form 990, Part III, Line 4d : Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Pain Program Accreditation (PPA) is a unique service developed by the Academy for the purpose of establishing peer-reviewed pain program practice standards for pain management facilities. These standards were developed by pain management professionals representing a variety of disciplines. The Academy conducted surveys, and convened consensus meetings to define quality clinical pain practice patterns. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Continuing Educations - Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and other specialty accrediting bodies, the Academy provides opportunities, such as classes at the Annual Clinical meeting, monographs, and on-line education for clinicians to earn credits necessary to maintain their clinical skills, licensure, and Academy Credentialing requirements. The Academy's educational offering focus on the latest understandings and options for treating people with pain. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: General Membership - General Membership is open to all clinicians who treat people with pain. Academy members include physicians, nurses, psychologists, dentists, pharmacists, among many others. Members benefits include: access to the Academy's Credentialing program, publications (such as The Pain Practitioner and Currents: Pain Management News and Research; a listing on the Academy's website; access to on-line education, reduced registration fees for the annual meeting, and networking opportunities. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Corporate Membership - Corporate Membership is offered to companies who support the mission and work of the Academy. This non-voting category of membership entitles members to participate on the corporate council, recognition on the website, in the magazine, and the annual meeting program book. In addition, corporate members receive preferential booth placement at the annual meeting and a 50% discount on approved mailing lists. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: Advocacy - The program monitors state and national regulations related to pain management practice in order to keep members informed about issues affecting their practices. This program in conjunction with the education department develops educational programs for the members on topics relating to advocacy and policy. |
