Activities  & Governance 1 Briefly describe the organization’s mission or most significant activities: Creighton University, founded in 1878, is one of 28 Jesuit, Catholic universities in the U.S. Through its 9 colleges and schools and academic medical center, Creighton provides more than 4,200 undergraduate and more than 3,400 professional and graduate students an atmosphere that challenges them academically and professionally, and supports and inspires them individually. Community service is a hallmark of Creighton's Jesuit, Catholic tradition and foundational to its mission. Last year, students, faculty and staff volunteered more than 295,000 hours through more than 800 outreach programs-locally, nationally and internationally. During fiscal year 2011, Creighton Medical Associates provided $8.7 million in health care to the uninsured or underinsured.

Briefly describe the organization’s mission: Creighton University is a Catholic and Jesuit comprehensive university committed to excellence in its selected undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. As Catholic, Creighton is dedicated to the pursuit of truth in all its forms and is guided by the living tradition of the Catholic Church. As Jesuit, Creighton participates in the tradition of the Society of Jesus, which provides an integrating vision of the world that arises out of a knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. As comprehensive, Creighton's education embraces nine colleges and schools and is directed to the intellectual, social, spiritual, physical and recreational aspects of students' lives and to the promotion of justice.

Creighton Medical Associates (CMA) is the multispecialty faculty group supporting the clinical and academic missions of the Creighton University School of Medicine. Organized in 1994, CMA's more than 200 physicians and midlevel providers represent 36 specialties. Student Services Programs: Auxiliary Services - From its inception in 1878, Creighton University's mission has been to educate the whole student-including the intellectual, spiritual, cultural, social, and physical/recreational aspects of student development. The information provided is reviewed by the board and management as appropriate and, if a conflict is determined to exist, the appropriate action to be taken is identified to manage, reduce or eliminate the conflict.
F990_P06_S0B_L15 Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The process for determining compensation for the President, Vice Presidents, and key employees (specifically the Deans of the two largest schools in the University) involves the following: 1) a gathering of comparability data which is reviewed and approved by the independent Executive Compensation Committee; 2) a review of the same information by the President; and, 3) a review of the information by the Senior Vice President of Operations with a member of the Board of Director's Executive Committee. The Executive Committee member then reports the results of his review to the full Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The process is documented in the minutes from the related committees.
