What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? TO PROVIDE THE COMMUNITY WITH A BUILDING FOR THE PURPOSES OF MEETING, GATHERING AND FOSTERING SUPPORT FOR VETERANS.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 Post Accomplishments for 2011:Donated the use of the annex facility every three months to allow the blood bank to get donations.Donated the use of the annex facility every three months for the mobile unit from the Veterans Administration clinic in Redding.Donated the use of the annex facility for the local food giveaway program for low income families throughout South Siskiyou County.Donated over $1,000.00 for the "Horses for Heroes" program in Siskiyou County. This program assists with therapy for disabled veterans.The Post Honor Guard has participated in many funerals for veterans throughout Siskiyou County. The Post Honor Guard also carries our nation's colors through parades in South Siskiyou County.The Post has made several monetary donations throughout the year to needy veterans that are passing through the county. Donated $200 for the Veteran's Stand Down held in Redding, CA. The Veteran's Stand Down helps homeless veterans with food and clothing.Donated $150 to the McCloud Recreation Council for youth sports.The Post Veterans Service Officer has helped veterans and their families throughout the year by advising them of their rights and benefits from the Veteran's Administration.The American Legion Post facility is registered with Siskiyou County as a shelter in case of emergencies.Many volunteer members from the Post are registered with the Siskiyou Home Guard. The Home Guard assists local families of deployed members of the National Guard unit that is currently deployed to Afghanistan.
