FIRST ACHIEVEMENT

FLORIDA FOREVER THE LINC FLORIDA FOREVER PROGRAM IS AN EXAMPLE OF CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHY IN ACTIONLINKING THE PUBLIC TO FLORIDA FOREVER'S CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND CULTURAL ISSUES BY USING EFFECTIVE AND PRODUCTIVE VISUAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. THIS YEARS' LINC CALENDAR HIGHLIGHTED A LANDSCAPE IN GREAT NEED OF PROTECTION WITH EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR. TWELVE HIGH-PRIORITY CONSERVATION AREAS WERE ASSIGNED TO FLORIDA'S LEADING CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHERS, RESULTING IN A 2011 FLORIDA FOREVER CALENDAR THAT FORMED THE CENTERPIECE OF OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL PROJECT YET. WE RAISED NEARLY 19,500 IN SPONSORSHIPS AND 7,746 IN CALENDAR SALES. THROUGH THE CALENDAR LINC AIMS TO FOSTER A CADRE OF ARTISTS AND JOURNALISTS WHO ARE DEDICATED TO COVERING CONSERVATION ISSUES, AND WHOSE WORK INSPIRES FLORIDIANS AND OTHERS TO GET INVOLVED IN CONSERVATION OR STEWARDSHIP OF THE STATE'S LAND AND WATER. FLORIDA FOREVER HAS BEEN PRESERVING NATURAL FLORIDA FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES. SINCE 1990, MORE THAN 2.4 MILLION ACRES OF LAND HAVE BEEN PRESERVED THROUGHOUT THE STATE BY PRESERVATION 2000 AND THE FLORIDA FOREVER PROGRAMS. BECAUSE MORE THAN A MILLION ACRES OF SENSITIVE LAND AND WATER ARE STILL IN DESPERATE NEED OF PROTECTION, LINC MOBILIZED SOME OF THE STATE'S BEST CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHERS TO FOCUS ON LANDS SLATED FOR PROTECTION THROUGH THE FLORIDA FOREVER PROGRAM.
SECOND ACHIEVEMENT

ARTSLINC IN ADDITION TO ITS OWN PROGRAMMING, LINC FOSTERS LIKE-MINDED WORK THROUGH THE ARTSLINC PROGRAM TO REACH A BROADER AUDIENCE AND INSPIRE CONSERVATION ACTION. FOR SELECT PROJECTS OF CONSERVATION ARTISTS AND COMMUNICATORS, LINC WILL SERVE AS A FISCAL AGENT BY EXTENDING ITS NON-PROFIT STATUS. THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PROJECT IN MIND AND CAN BENEFIT FROM LINCS NON-PROFIT STATUS TO FUNDRAISE FOR THEIR PROJECT. AS A 501(C)3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, LINC IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTIONS, AND CAN SERVE AS A PASS-THROUGH AGENT FOR QUALIFIED PROJECTS IN RETURN FOR A FIVE PERCENT ADMINISTRATION FEE. IN THIS WAY, LINC PROVIDES A FUNDRAISING STRUCTURE AND COMPLETES CERTAIN ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS. ALONG WITH THE FISCAL RELATIONSHIP, LINC ALSO OFFERS OTHER SERVICES. ONCE UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF LINCS COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATORS, LINC PROVIDES MENTORSHIP, WEBSITE AND NEWSLETTER PUBLICITY, HELP WITH PR AND MARKETING EFFORTS, AND MORE DEPENDING UPON INDIVIDUAL NEEDS. THROUGH ARTSLINC, LINC EMPOWERS ARTISTS AND STORYTELLERS TO EDUCATE AUDIENCES ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE OF A PLACE IN TIME, AND TO SHARE THEIR MESSAGES ABOUT COMMUNITY. WHETHER THEIR METHOD IS THE WRITTEN WORD, PHOTOGRAPHY, PAINTING, DRAWING, OR SOME OTHER CREATIVE MEDIUM, THE WORK HELPS THE VIEWER TO RESPOND TO THE MESSAGE AT HAND.

FLORIDAS WILDLIFE CORRIDOR LINC IS HELPING TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE REAL OPPORTUNITY TO PROTECT A CONNECTED CORRIDOR OF NATURAL LAND AND WATER ACROSS THE NORTH-SOUTH LENGTH OF FLORIDA. LINC IS A CONTRIBUTING PARTNER TO THE FLORIDA WILDLIFE CORRIDOR (TFWC) PROJECT AND IS BRINGING ITS MISSION TO LIFE THROUGH ART AND IMAGERY. THE FLORIDA WILDLIFE CORRIDOR WILL LAUNCH ON JANUARY 17TH, 2012 FROM FLAMINGO IN EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK AND IS HEADING NORTH NOW. FOLLOW PHOTOJOURNALIST CARLTON WARD JR, FILMMAKER ELAM STOLTZFUS, BEAR BIOLOGIST JOSEPH GUTHRIE AND CONSERVATIONIST MALLORY LYKES DIMMITT ON THEIR 1,000-MILE JOURNEY TO THE OKEFENOKEE SWAMP ON EARTH DAY, APRIL 22ND. THE FLORIDA WILDLIFE CORRIDOR IS A PROPOSED NATURAL AREAS CONSERVATION CORRIDOR THAT WILL CONNECT EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK TO THE OKEFENOKEE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE IN SOUTHERN GEORGIA. THE GOAL OF THE FLORIDA WILDLIFE CORRIDOR IS TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK OF OR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE NATURAL LANDS AND WATERS THROUGHOUT THE FLORIDA PENINSULA, AND TO HELP FLORIDIANS UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE CONNECTIONS FOR SUSTAINING HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS. THE CORRIDOR IS BEING DEFINED TO ADVANCE GLOBAL CONSERVATION WHILE ENCOURAGING REGIONAL INTERSTATE PRESERVATION MEASURES. THE JOURNEY WILL TRAVERSE THE EVERGLADES ECOSYSTEM STARTING IN BIG CYPRESS SWAMP, OVER TO THE EVERGLADES AGRICULTURAL AREA (EAA), BACK TO THE OKALOACOOCHEE SLOUGH, ACROSS THE CALOOSAHATCHEE, OVER TO BABCOCK RANCH, AND WEST ALONG FISHEATING CREEK TOWARD LAKE OKEECHOBEE. FROM LAKE OKEECHOBEE, THE HEART OF THE GREATER EVERGLADES SYSTEM, THE EXPEDITION WILL TRAVEL UP THE KISSIMMEE RIVER WITH EXCURSIONS TOWARD THE LAKE WALES RIDGE, UP THE KISSIMMEE CHAIN OF LAKES, EAST AROUND ORLANDO, AND INTO OCALA NATIONAL FOREST. ONCE IN THE EXISTING OCALA TO OSCEOLA CORRIDOR, THE TRIP WILL CONTINUE NORTH IN GEORGIA AND INTO THE OKEFENOKEE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE.
