	VIP is a non-profit Arizona Corporation whose mission is to promote the social welfare and well-being of Arizonans by developing coordinated and unified efforts among organizations committed to formulating and implementing solutions to community prob lems VIP promotes cooperation and interchange among organizations which strive for justice and public accountability in areas such as housing education employment community development and health care Recent highlights for 2010-2011 High Skill Workforce Training Initiative In fall 2010 VIP launched a long-term high-skill job training strategy for Metro Phoenix enrolling 40 students in career training The initiative will move families into a career path for family wage jobs pa rticularly in allied health and green energy occupations Key partners include major employers Maricopa Community College District and the City of Phoenix and Maricopa Workforce Boards Immigrant Integration VIP conducted over 60 Toolkit trai ning sessions in congregations throughout Metro Phoenix teaching thousands of families the skills necessary for integration into American life and for the preservation of their families dignity and unity Leadership Academies train institutional le aders to reach into their communities and help families with a training content that is regularly revised as local circumstances dictate Safe Communities for Central Phoenix VIP organized house meetings identified key neighborhood issues and then met with city council members and took Phoenix Police on a tour of inner-city neighborhood The results improved relations with Phoenix police with regular patrols to keep out gang and illegal drug activity Civic Academies on the Economy VIP leaders created a Civic Academy on the Economy to explain the roots of Arizonas budget crisis and illustrate the economic toll of balancing the budget on the backs of the most vulnerable Metro Phoenix Leaders Assemblies At three major as semblies gathering 1500 local leaders VIP launched a Campaign for Children Agenda highlighting concerns for Arizona childrens future with a focus on public safety education and adult workforce retraining On-going Reflection and Training fo r Leaders and Clergy VIP has maintained an on-going series of leadership retreats clergy gatherings and civic academies to address themes of leadership and public life economic pressures and shifting demographics and reflection on the faith basi s for broad based community organizing Over 75 VIP clergy attended three clergy caucuses in the spring of 2011
