OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: OPERATION SCHOOL BELL - OUR SIGNATURE PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES NEW SCHOOL CLOTHING AND SHOES TO CHILDREN IN ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE CASTAIC UNION, SAUGUS UNION, NEWHALL, SULPHUR SPRINGS, AND WILLIAM S. HART SCHOOL DISTRICTS. ELIGIBLE CHILDREN ARE IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL PERSONNEL. WITH THEIR PARENTS, THEY ARE INVITED TO SHOP FOR APPROPRIATE SCHOOL CLOTHING AT A LOCAL DEPARTMENT STORE. ASSISTANCE LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS AND ASSISTEENS (OUR TEEN AUXILIARY MEMBERS) ARE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE HELP AND GUIDANCE AT EACH SHOPPING EVENT. SINCE 1991, ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF SANTA CLARITA HAS SERVED OVER 20,000 STUDENTS IN THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS - ALLOWS FLEXIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN AND TEST SERVICE PROJECTS, SUCH AS:BOARD BUDDIES - HELPS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN STRENGTHEN LITERACY AND NUMBER SKILLS BY PLAYING BOARD GAMES. IN ADDITION TO HAVING FUN, THE STUDENTS LEARN VALUABLE SKILLS SUCH AS TAKING TURNS, CRITICAL THINKING, HOW TO INTERACT WITH ADULTS, AS WELL AS LETTER AND WORD RECOGNITION. PROJECT PROM - PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS AND BOYS TO ATTEND THEIR PROM WITH SELF-CONFIDENCE AND STYLE. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WILLIAM S. HART SCHOOL DISTRICT, STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO VISIT A BOUTIQUE THAT IS SET UP AND STAFFED BY ASSISTANCE LEAGUE AND DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS, WHERE DONATED DRESSES, TUXEDOS, SHOES, AND ACCESSORIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION. SUPPORT IS ALSO PROVIDED FOR PROM BIDS AND FLOWERS. SINCE 2010, OVER 500 GIRLS AND BOYS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: EMERGENCY COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE - PROVIDES A ONE-TIME MATERIAL OR MONETARY PROVISION TO A FAMILY OR INDIVIDUAL IN NEED.
