What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTED THE SAFE OPERATION AND CONTINUED GROWTH OF FREIGHT RAIL TRANSPORTATION IN NORTH CAROLINA; ALSO, COMMUNICATING THAT THE EXPANSION OF FREIGHT RAIL OPERATIONS PROVIDES THE CITIZENS OF NORTH CAROLINA WITH ONE OF THE MOST ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, COST EFFECTIVE AND FUEL EFFICIENT METHODS OF MOVING GOODS. FOCUSING ON THE FACT THAT THE EXPANDED USE OF FREIGHT RAIL SERVICES REDUCES HIGHWAY CONGESTION, DECREASES THE COST OF MAINTAINING PUBLIC ROADS, AND SUPPORTS THE CONTINUED GROWTH OF NORTH CAROLINA'S ECONOMY WHILE PROVIDING A SIGNIFICANTLY SAFER METHOD OF TRANSPORTING CARGO.
