THE LEE FOYER IN NOVEMBER 2010, THE DOOR OPENED ITS FIRST SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM, THE LEE FOYER, LOCATED IN THE LOWER EAST SIDE OF MANHATTAN. THE FOYER PROGRAM AT THE LEE REPRESENTS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE DOOR, WHICH COORDINATES AND PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO YOUNG PEOPLE; UNIVERSITY SETTLEMENT, WHICH PROVIDES MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES; AND COMMON GROUND, THE DEVELOPER, WHICH MANAGES AND OPERATES THE BUILDING. THE LEE IS A PERMANENT HOUSING FACILITY FOR 55 YOUTHS, AGES 18 TO 25, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF ASSISTING RESIDENTS IN LOCATING THEIR OWN PERMANENT HOUSING WITHIN TWO YEARS OF ADMISSION. RESIDENTS OF THE LEE MUST BE HOMELESS OR AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS, IN FOSTER CARE, OR SUFFER FROM A SEVERE OR PERSISTANT MENTAL ILLNESS. RESIDENTS HAVE PROGRAMMING AVAILABLE ON-SITE, AND CAN ALSO ACCESS SERVICES AT THE DOOR, SUCH AS CAREER READINESS AND PLACEMENT SERVICES AND HEALTH CARE. AIDP THE DOOR ALSO LAUNCHED AN ATTENDANCE IMPROVEMENT AND DROP-OUT PREVENTION (AIDP) PROGRAM, FUNDED BY UNITED WAY, WHICH PROVIDES ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES BOTH AT THE DOOR AND ON-SITE AT LOW-PERFORMING HIGH SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT NEW YORK CITY. AIDP WORKS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' CONNECTIONS TO THEIR SCHOOL, THEIR ATTENDANCE, AND GRADES.
