EACH YEAR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS REVIEWS THE PRIOR FISCAL YEAR'S IRS FORM 990 PRIOR TO ITS SUBMISSION TO THE IRS. A THOROUGH PRESENTATION WILL BE MADE BY THE FINANCE DIRECTOR AND/OR THE INDEPENDENT AUDITOR/ACCOUNTANT, WHO WILL HAVE WORKED TOGETHER TO PREPARE THE FORM. BECAUSE OF HOLIDAY SCHEDULING THIS WILL OCCUR AT THE MARCH MEETING, AND WILL REQUIRE A DELAY IN THE FILING OF THE FORM 990, ACCOMPLISHED BY THE PRO-FORMA FILING OF AN EXTENSION WITH THE IRS. MISSION STATEMENT
PART III, LINE 1: ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
The Loft's mission is to support the artistic development of writers, foster a writing community, and build an audience for literature. The Loft's constituencies range from children and adults exploring writing for the first time to some the the nation's most accomplished writiers. The Loft supports anyone who seeks to express ideas creatively through words and the readers who benefit. The Loft's support takes the form of classes for writers of all levels; readings and events featuring national and local literary artists; facilitated writers groups; writing activities for youth ages 6-18; and fellowships, mentorships and career initiative awards for accomplished writers.
MEMBERS OF THE LOFT
PART IV, LINE 6: GOVERNING BODY AND MANAGEMENT
BEGINNING IN FY11, ANYONE WHO DONATES $1 OR MORE TO THE LOFT BECOMES A MEMBER. MEMBERSHIP IS A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE LOFT WITH BENEFITS LIMITED TO PREFERRED ACCESS TO GOODS AND SERVICES AND DISCOUNTS ON GOODS, SERVICES, AND ADMISSIONS. MEMBERS DO NOT HAVE ANY VOTING RIGHTS OR SAY IN HOW THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES.
