What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? Provide support for students suspended from school and their families
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 The suspension program served over 200 students from nine (9) neighborhood schools. Students completed homework, completed modules from "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" and returned to their schools with credit for their homework and attendance as outline in the partnership between the school and Enhancement Ministries (EMI). An average of 18 school aged children participating in the weekly afterschool program received tutoring, peer to peer interation training and a free meal. 250 families also received free tax services as part of EMI's partnership with the Ohio Benefit Bank.

29 During the 2011 school year students received 246 days worth of school attendance credits. This almost equates to a school year. Attendance is important for several reasons for every student. First, it is difficult for young people to learn if they're not in class. The teaching learning process builds upon itself: Each lesson presented to students is based upon or related to those that preceded it. Second, research shows that those students who attend school regularly are more likely to be successful during their school years (www.polson.k12.mt.us/district23/.../Learning_is_Cumulative.pdf). The Safe Haven operates in a neighborhood where 98% of the children live below the poverty level and they are among the most vulnerable for situations that interrupt the opportunity to learn. Safe Haven helps these students stay engaged in learning. They complete school homework approved by their school principal while they work on their behavior. Students can enroll in the Safe Haven throughout the school week so students have various starting points for exposure to the Seven Habits, our behavior modification curriculum. For this report, my sample is from a month in 2011 when 41 students enrolled in the Safe Haven. The average number of days suspended was 4. 100% of the students were exposed to habit one: be proactive - students accepted responsibility for their behavior; students became more self aware and students could identify their circle of control and they could identify solution or options for their behavior. 39% of the students were exposed to habit two: begin with the end in mind; 25% were exposed to habit 3: first Things first and 16% of the students was exposed to habits four - seven. The Safe Haven is established with guidelines that limit principals to a maximum of three enrollments in the Safe Haven per student. In 2011, four students were repeat enrollees at the Safe Haven. These four students used two of their three enrollment opportunities.
