THE FAMILY YMCA OF LANCASTER AND FAIRFIELD CTY (DBA: ROBERT K FOX FAMILY Y) IS A CHARITABLE, COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATION THAT INCLUDES MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF ALL AGES, ABILITIES, INCOME, RACES AND RELIGIONS. WE ARE DEDICATED TO BUILDING STRONG KIDS, STRONG FAMILIES, AND STRONG COMMUNITIES BY PUTTING CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, STRONG VALUES, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNITY INTERACTION AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING. ALL PEOPLE ARE WELCOME AT OUR YMCA, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY. THERE IS A TOTAL OF 47 VOLUNTEERS THAT GIVE THEIR TIME IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS. JUST TO NAME A FEW - SERVING ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, CLASS INSTRUCTORS, FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES, AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS YOUTH AND ADULTS: YMCA HAS PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO HELP PEOPLE CREATE REALISTIC GOALS FOR SELF IMPROVEMENT AND EMPHASIZE DISEASE PREVENTION THROUGH REGULAR EXERCISE, PROPER NUTRITION, STRESS MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH EDUCATION. SPORTS PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH, FAMILIES, AND ADULTS PROMOTE TEAMWORK, INTERACTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL SKILLS. WATER PROGRAMS AND HYDROSLIMNASTICS WATER EXERCISE: HELP THE YMCA REACH SENIORS AND OTHERS WHO WANT TO MAINTAIN AN ACTIVE AND FLEXIBLE LIFESTYLE; THE YMCA SKIPS AQUATIC PROGRAM HELPS TO DEVELOP PHYSICAL SKILLS IN YOUNG CHILDREN, THE GYMNASTIC CLASSES HELP CHILDREN WITH THEIR COORDINATION SKILLS; AND OUR FAMILY SWIM PROGRAM GIVES INTERGENERATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS. THE YMCA SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE, WITH REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS,AND WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T AFFORD THE FULL FEE. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS: YMCA PROGRAMMING IN GYMNASTICS AND DANCE ACTIVITIES GIVE CHILDREN GOOD ROLE MODELS TO HELP THEM DEVELOP SELF-ESTEEM AND GOOD VALUES, INCLUDING COOPERATION, RESPECT, GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND A STRONG WORK ETHIC. OTHER YOUTH PROGRAMMING EMPHASIZES THE NEED FOR FAIR PLAY AND EVERYONE PLAYS REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITIES. THE YMCA YOUTH PROGRAMS SHOWCASE THEIR ABILITY TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH CHILDREN. YET EACH CHILD LEARNS A NEW PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HAS FUN IN A GROUP SETTING AND IS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A LEADER AND SUPPORTER AND LEARNS THE NECESSARY GIVE AND TAKE TO WORK TOWARD THE COMMON GOOD. A SUMMER CAMP FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IS OFFERED THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITED WAY OF FAIRFIELD COUNTY WHICH ALLOWS THE PARTICIPANTS TO ATTEND AT NO CHARGE. THE CAMP STRENGTHENS OUR TIES WITH THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE AND IS THE YMCA'S ATTEMPT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AND THIS "SPECIAL" POPULATION. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR FEE-BASED PROGRAMS SO A YOUNG PERSON'S ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES ARE NOT A BARRIER TO PARTICIPATION.
