BOLD (BOULDER OUT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT) IS OUT BOULDER'S MAJOR YOUTH PROGRAM. OUT ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY OFFERING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, SOCIAL VENTS, AND IN-DEPTH SPECIAL PROJECTS. THE GOAL OF THE DIRECTORS' JOURNEY, A YOUTH FILM-MAKING PROJECT, IS TO PROVIDE POSITIVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LGBT AND ALLIED YOUTH TO GROW ON MANY LEVELS INCLUDING IMPROVED COMMUNITY CONNECTEDNESS WITH OTHER LGBT AND ALLIED YOUTH, ACQUIRING PROFESSIONAL SKILLS, IMPROVED SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE, INTERPERSONAL/INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS, COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION SKILLS. FOR BOLD, WE MEASURE IMPACT BY PRE AND POST-TEST RESULTS OF PARTICIPANTS. PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO SELF-REPORT IF THEY FEEL AN INCREASED SENSE OF COMMUNITY, LEARNED NEW SKILLS AND FEEL INCREASED SELF-ESTEEM. IN 2011, BOLD SAW A CONSISTENT NUMBER OF YOUTH PARTICIPANTS (AVERAGING 37 PER MONTH) IN ALL OF ITS ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, FROM THE ANNUAL FILM PROJECT TO VOLUME 2 OF THE ZINE.
