	The union represents approximately 3,100 health care workers at Kaiser and Providence Facilities in the greater Portland, Oregon area. The union employed full-time staff to serve members needs and to provide representation in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. The local keeps members informed about workplace issues and labor management relations through meetings, publications, etc. The union also provides legal assistance and increases membership through recruiting prospective members and organizing new bargaining units. The local negotiates contracts for members through the collective bargaining process.

Part X	Part X : FIN48 Footnote	On July 1, 2009, OFN #5017 adopted newly issued accounting rules that prescribe a new threshold for determining when an income tax benefit can be recognized, which is a higher threshold than the one imposed for claiming deductions on income tax returns. The adoption of the newly issued accounting rule did not have any impact on OFN #5017's financial statements. OFN #5017's federal and state information returns are subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities until the expiration of the related statutes of limitations on those information returns. In general, the federal and state information returns has a three year statute of limitations. OFN #5017 files as a tax-exempt organization. Should that status be challenged in the future, OFN #5017's 2011, 2010 and 2009 tax years are open for examination by the Internal Revenue Service.
