	THE MALCOLM J. MAYO POST #5422 (POST), CONTINUES TO MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WILMINGTON COMMUNITY AND OUR NATION. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY RAISING FUNDS THROUGH PUBLIC SUPPORT OF MANY EVENTS HELD BY THE POST SUCH AS, BI-WEEKLY FISH FRIES, BINGO, AND SPECIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IN ADDITION, MONETARY DONATIONS ARE RECEIVED. THE POST USES THE FUNDS RAISED FOR OPERATING COSTS AND TO SUPPORT LOCAL SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING YOUTH PROGRAMS, NURSING HOMES, MILITARY MEN IN ACTIVE DUTY, AS WELL AS MANY OTHER VARIOUS PROGRAMS. THANKSGIVING DINNER WAS PROVIDED TO OVER 160 PEOPLE, FEE OF CHARGE, FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH NO PLACE TO ATTEND. FOOD WAS DONATED BY MEMBERS OF THE POST. DINNER IS PROVIDED TWICE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THE MANTENO VETERANS HOME. THE POST ALSO PROVIDES ORGANIZATIONS A PLACE TO HOST FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND OTHER EVENTS AT A MINIMAL CHARGE. THE POST HONOR GUARDS HOLD FROM ONE TO ELEVEN MILITARY BURIALS EVERY WEDNESDAY AT ABRAHAM LINCOLN VETERANS CEMETRY.
