THE GROUP HAD RAISED ABOUT 15,000 BY THE END OF 2011. "THE COALITION HELPED FACILITATE THE HOMELESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM IN NEW MEXICO, WHICH WAS FUNDED BY FEDERAL STIMULUS DOLLARS. THE COALITION WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE NM MORTGAGE FINANCE AUTHORITY AND A GROUP OF IMPLEMENTING AGENCIES TO SEE THAT THESE FUNDS WERE USED PROPERLY TO HOUSE THOUSANDS OF NEW MEXICANS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN HOMELESS. "THE NEW MEXICO COALITION TO END HOMELESSNESS HAS BEEN LEADING LOCAL EFFORTS TO END HOMELESSNESS IN SANTA FE AND ALBUQUERQUE. IN 2010 BOTH THESE EFFORTS LED TO MAJOR STEPS FORWARD. THE CITY OF SANTA FE USED BOND MONEY TO PURCHASE A BUILDING TO BE A RESOURCE AND OPPORTUNITY CENTER FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE. THE BUILDING IS PROVIDING EMERGENCY SHELTER DURING THE WINTER AND WAS REMODELED OVER THE SUMMER OF 2011, AND NOW SERVES AS A RESOURCE AND OPPORTUNITY CENTER TO HELP HOMELESS PEOPLE GET THE SERVICES THEY NEED TO GET INTO HOUSING. "IN ALBUQUERQUE, THE COALITION LED THE WAY FOR ALBUQUERQUE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 100,000 HOMES CAMPAIGN WITH THE ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT OF THE MAYOR. UNDER THIS PROJECT ALBUQUERQUE IS TARGETING HOUSING RESOURCES TO THE MOST MEDICALLY VULNERABLE HOMELESS PEOPLE. "THE COALITION SERVES AS THE LEAD AGENCY FOR THE NEW MEXICO HOMELESS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (HMIS). IN 2011, THE COALITION LED A PROCESS OF IMPLEMENTING A NEW AND BETTER SOFTWARE FOR THE SYSTEM. THE NEW SYSTEM ALLOWS AGENCIES TO KEEP TRACK OF OUTCOME DATA THAT CAN HELP THEM IMPROVE THEIR SERVICES AND IT WILL ALLOW THE COALITION TO KEEP TRACK OF PROGRESS IN REDUCING HOMELESSNESS. THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS INCLUDED THE TRAINING OF ALL AGENCIES USING HMIS. THE TRAINING IS ONGOING TO ACCOMMODATE NEW PROJECTS AND STAFF TURNOVER. "THE COALITION WORKED WITH THE SANTA FE COMMUNITY HOUSING TRUST ON ITS DEVELOPMENT OF A 60 UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING IN SANTA FE THAT INCLUDES 15 APARTMENTS FOR HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS. THESE APARTMENTS WERE OPENED IN THE SPRING OF 2011. OUR EFFORTS HAVE FOCUSED ON EXPANDING HOUSING AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS, ADVOCATING FOR BETTER LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL POLICIES RELATED TO HOMELESSNESS, AND ENCOURAGING AGENCIES TO USE BEST PRACTICES TO HELP HOMELESS PEOPLE REINTEGRATE INTO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. SOME OF THE SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE YEAR ARE: "IN 2011 THE COALITION STARTED A SPECIAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS TO END HOMELESSNESS AMONG VETERANS IN NEW MEXICO.
