ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION
MOUNTAINLANDS COMMUNITY HOUSING ASSOCIATION'S (MCHA) PURPOSE IS BASED ON THE BELIEF THAT A SAFE AFFORDABLE HOME IS OFTEN A FAMILYS FIRST STEP TOWARD ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY. MCHA ADDRESSES THE DUAL PROBLEMS OF HOUSING AFFORDABILITY AND AVAILABILITY ON THREE FRONTS: ACQUISITION AND NEW CONSTRUCTION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING, DIRECT ASSISTANCE IN SECURING HOUSING AND NEEDED BASIC SERVICES, AND EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY TO PROMOTE HOUSING POLICY.
FIRST ACCOMPLISHMENT DESCRIPTION
FORM 990, PAGE 2, PART III, LINE 4A
BE IN SUMMER 2012. MCHA , AS MANAGING MEMBER AND DEVELOPER OF PRESTIGE SENIOR LIVING CENTER, LLC, STARTED CONSTRUCTION OF 23 APARTMENTS ALSO IN HEBER CITY, UTAH. COMPLETION IS SCHEDULED FOR FALL 2012. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, THE 15-YEAR LOW INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDIT COMPLIANCE PERIOD TERMINATED FOR WASHINGTON MILL APARTMENTS WHICH HAS BEEN OWNED IN A TAX CREDIT PARTNERSHIP. THE PARTNERS, DEER VALLEY RESORT AND ZIONS BANK, CONVEYED THEIR INTEREST TO MCHA, MAKING IT THE SOLE OWNER OF THE 8 APARTMENTS IN PARK CITY, UTAH. ALTHOUGH FUNDING DID NOT BEGIN UNTIL APRIL 1ST, IN MARCH MCHA WAS AWARDED A CORNERSTONE HOMEOWNERSHIP INNOVATION PROGRAM (CHIP) GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF 130,000 FOR EACH OF THE NEXT TWO FISCAL YEARS. THIS WILL PROVIDE FUNDS FOR MCHA TO MONITOR RESTRICTED AFFORDABLE HOMES, EXPAND ITS HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAMS, AND TRACK THE LONG-TERM EFFECTIVENESS OF ITS PROGRAMS. OTHER THAN THE ABOVE, MCHA CONTINUED TO RECEIVE FUNDING AND OPERATE ITS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM, HOUSING RESOURCE CENTER, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. ITS CONTRACT WITH SUMMIT COUNTY WAS RENEWED FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND ITS CONTRACT WITH PARK CITY MUNICIPAL CORPORATION FOR TWO YEARS.
