| Form 990, Part III, Line 4d | Form 990, Part III, Line 4d : Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Woofstock - This was the fifth year for a signature event designed to provide an annual venue for adoption of companion animals in a festival atmosphere with music and activities. This event is free to the public and attracted approximately 700 people. Over 20 vendors sold pet related merchandise and services to pet owners while a record thirty three (up from 23) rescue groups and non-profits came from around the state, with cats, dogs, ferrets, birds and bunnies for adoption. The result was 106 animals getting new homes in the six hours of the festival. The net proceeds from the event, raised from sponsors, donors and vendor fees, amounted to $4,465. We are currently conducting a grant review to award out four $1,000 grants, to qualifying adoption groups that participated in Woofstock, $465 was retained to help underwrite 2012 Woofstock. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Fur Ball - This was the fifth Fur Ball event since 2004. Fur Ball is a bi-annual black tie fund raising event for funds to distribute to worthy non-profit organizations working to create a no-kill community for companion animals. Dugan Foundation does not retain proceeds for its operations. The event was held at the Tacoma Art Museum with an attempt to step up the cache of the event. We had 128 guests, paying anywhere from $150 per person, to $250 per person, or contributing as a sponsor in-kind or in cash. We also provided food and beverage to over 30 volunteers and service providers supporting the event. The evening included food and beverage, a live auction, items for purchase, live music and program entertainment. Even with a small crowd, it was the highest amount we've ever raised in the live auction. There were numerous in kind sponsors and donors, which kept the costs down. |
