What is the organization's primary exempt purpose? THE OKLAHOMA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS (OKAAP) EXISTS TO PROMOTE ATTAINMENT OF OPTIMAL PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL HEALTH FOR ALL INFANTS, CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS RESIDING IN OKLAHOMA.
Describe the organization’s program service accomplishments for each of its three largest program services, as measured by expenses. In a clear and concise manner, describe the services provided, the number of persons benefited, and other relevant information for each program title.
28 OKAAP HAS NEARLY 360 MEMBERS, INCLUDING PEDIATRICIANS AND SUB-SPECIALISTS. THE CHAPTER SERVES THE HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF CHILDREN THROUGH ADVOCACY OF ISSUES INCLUDING IMMUNIZATION, CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT, CHILDHOOD OBESITY, AND ORAL HEALTH. THE CHAPTER PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF MEDICAL INFORMATION TO ITS MEMBERS THROUGH REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION. THE CHAPTER'S OFFICERS REPRESENT THE MEMBERSHIP AT NATIONAL AND DISTRICT MEETINGS OF THE NATIONAL AAP. THE ORGANIZATION COLLABORATES WITH AREA MEDICAL SCHOOLS (FACULTY AND STAFF), POLICY MAKERS, STATE AGENCIES, PAYERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF AND HEALTH CARE SERVICES PROVIDED TO OKLAHOMA CHILDREN.
