IN FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011, THE MISSION OF KAMM'S CORNERS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (KCDC) WAS GREATLY ADVANCED BY THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS. THE TWELVE MEMBER BOARD OF TRUSTEES DEVELOPS THE STRATEGIC PLAN THAT SETS DIRECTION AND POLICY OF THE ORGANIZATION AND PROVIDES FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT OF IT'S OPERATIONS. THE FORTY PLUS VOLUNTEERS OF THE KAMM'S CORNERS FARMERS MARKET PERFORM FUNCTIONS FROM SET-UP AND TEAR DOWN TO BOOKING ENTERTAINMENT AND COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS AND FINANCIAL OPERATIONS. WITH ONLY ONE PART TIME PAID STAFF MEMBER, THIS YEAR-ROUND MARKET IS ALMOST SOLELY RUN BY VOLUNTEERS. THE HOOLEY ON KAMM'S CORNERS, AN ANNUAL STREET FESTIVAL, DEPENDS ON MORE THAN A DOZEN VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH DAY OF EVENT LOGISTICS AND LITTER CONTROL. THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING IS A FREE GATHERING FOR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS WHERE CURRENT NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECTS AND PLANS ARE DISCUSSED. THIS EVENT IS A SUCCESS DUE TO THE VOLUNTEER PARTICIPATION OF OVER THIRTY-FIVE NEIGHBORS AND MERCHANTS. THE ONLY FUNDRAISER FOR KCDC, WINE IN THE HOLIDAYS, IS KEPT CASUAL AND FUN BY THE HARD WORK OF TEN COMMITTED VOLUNTEERS. PUBLISHED QUARTERLY, KAMM'S CORNERS MAGAZINE FEATURES NEWS OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO THE KAMM'S CORNERS COMMUNITY, HIGHLIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD SUCCESSES AND EVENTS, AND PROVIDES VALUABLE COMMUNITY INFORMATION. WE APPRECIATE THE INSIGHT PROVIDED BY BOTH GUEST WRITERS. ASPHALT CINEMA, CONSISTING OF FREE FAMILY CONCERTS AND MOVIES ARE HELD THE THIRD FRIDAYS OF JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST AT IMPETT PARK. EACH MONTH, IT TAKES MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THIS COMMUNITY EVENT A SUCCESS. THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT OF DOWNTOWN KAMM'S CORNERS IS MAINTAINED BY THE HARD WORK OF ALMOST 20 CCS VOLUNTEERS. WINTER WONDERLAND KICKS-OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON WITH A SING-ALONG, PHOTOS WITH SANTA AND MRS. CLAUSE, FACE PAINTING, CRAFTS, AND HOT CHOCOLATE AND COOKIES FOR ALL THANKS TO THE HARD WORK OF MORE THAN TWENTY VOLUNTEERS. THE ANNUAL DOWNTOWN KAMM'S CORNERS HOLIDAY STOREFRONT DECORATING CONTEST ENCOURAGES MERCHANTS TO DECORATE THEIR STOREFRONTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND LIGHT UP THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT. APPROXIMATELY, SIXTEEN MERCHANTS AND JUDGES PARTICIPATED IN THE CONTEST. THE ANNUAL DOWNTOWN KAMM'S CORNERS HALLOWEEN BAGS PROVIDE A CREATIVE WAY FOR THE MERCHANTS TO GIVE TREATS AND PROMOTED THEMSELVES.
