Ideally, our goal is to recruit over 350 new active members/cyclists into the program and provide a forum for them to understand cycling safety and cycling fitness so that each and every participant has an opportunity for success and an ongoing motivation to live a healthier lifestyle. During the year there will be weekly seminars for approximately two hours each starting with the basics and building upon each point as the riders progress in the boot camps:1.Safety - how to shift, how to ride with a group, how to be SAFE and much more2.Rules of the Road (Share the Road \| Ride Right, Drive Right)3.Cycling guidelines4.How to cycle and how to cycle for life5.How to establish riding schedules to complete races/events6.Health benefits7.Nutrition - what to eat and how to prepare for a ride - don't run out of steam8.Positive role model for the community Community Fitness Cycling Boot Camps: ------------------------------------- During the year, the Foundation intends to sponsor seven (7) boot camps throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida. The boot camps will be run free of charge. The camps will consist of an experienced cyclist volunteer that leads a novice camp group of 20-35 beginning cyclists. Camp leaders teach cycling techniques, safety, bike equipment fundamentals, and provide a general overview of the sport. The cycling boot camps will take what the riders have reviewed in the seminars and apply the skills and rules on the road. There are numerous boot camps ranging from beginner to advanced skill levels. The RidesAs the riders go from boot camp to training camp and become educated, fit and improve their skills they will be able to ride with a training camp that is at their correct level and geographically desirable. During the season, the riders will be given the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the seminars and boot camps by participating in a number of events, both pro and charity rides to fit their skill level.
